Bindura Rhodesian Ridgebacks
Tally-Ho

Lure Coursing is a wonderful and fun event that you can enjoy with your Ridgeback.

1.  Your dog has to be over a year old;
2.  Your dog must have a ridge;
3.  Your dog can be neutered or spayed;
4.  You must have 1 run with a dog that has already run in the Open stakes to get your QC;
5   2 qualifying runs will earn the Junior Courser (JC) title; however, this does not mean your dog can run in the Open.  You must complete           #4 above;
6.  To earn a Senior Courser (SC) title, your dog needs to run in 4 different AKC field trials   under 4 different judges.
7.  For a Field Championship (FCh) title, the hound must accumulate 15 points with 2 majors (3 points or more).

 AKC Lure Coursing Week-End
TALLY HO!!
Finn becomes a Senior Courser and earns a new AKC title

We finally had a FUN week-end of AKC lure coursing and boy did we have fun!!!  On Saturday. Bindi got her Qualified Courser (QC) but we forgot to move her in to the Open Stakes, so got to chill for the rest of the day.  After the first run in the Open, Finn was in FIRST place!  Wow!!!  But, his cheatin' nature took hold and he ended up in 2nd in the open and added another point toward his Field Champion title as well as getting his Senior Courser title  (SC)  Whooo  hooo.  All the Ridgebacks did great.  Lilly was first in Open and got 2 points.  Way to go Lilly.

On Sunday, the new Coursers hit the field - Nixie, Bindi and Deja.  Wow did they do great.  Deja won a 3 point major, followed by 2 points for Esme and 1 for Strider.  Bindi and Nixie tied for 4th place.  No run off for those tired girls.

There will be more coursing in April and we can't wait.  It was great to be out there with all our good friends having a great time with the dogs.

Coursing practice 12/20/09

The Sunshine State RR Club finally held it's very first coursing practice on Sunday, December 20th.  We had a great location at future member Karol Valentine's house.  What a perfect place, too.  Coursing practice is a great way to try out the youngsters and those that have never run just to see if they like the sport.  It's also a great way to let the tried and true coursers get out some of their energy.    With all the great runners, it's going to be very competitive on the field at upcoming events.

September 12 & 13, 2009

The Sunshine State Coursing Club held AKC tests and trials on 9/12/ and 9/13/2009.  5 Ridgebacks went for their JC titles and all 5 got them.

On Saturday, Finn ran in his 2nd open trial and is headed towardgetting his SC title.  To make matters more exciting, he was Best of Breed in Ridgebacks and ran for BIF late in the afternoon.  No competition there.  He was running against the #1 Whippet in the country, but he did come in 2nd in the field that day.

On Sunday, once the other RR's qualified, there was a lot excitement out on the field when all the new JC's headed in to the open and there was a major for points at stake.  After the first run, Esme was in first place.  You go Girl!!  In the end, after the 2nd run, it was Esme as BOB and Finn in 2nd place.  Esme got 3 points toward her FC and Finn got one.  We decided not to run them anymore and left Altoona very happy and exhausted
