Crestridge Ujamaa Beauregard, CGC "Beau"
Beau is our very first Rhodesian Ridgback. When we decided to get a dog, we looked for a breed that was loyal, a good family dog and very easy going. This is exactly what Beau is. We could not have asked for a better dog. He is friendly to everyone he meets and very watchful over children. Beau loves to be with his people at all times. He is also our countersurfer and bed hog.
Beau was the runt out of a litter of 12 puppies. Poor momma. He has finally reached a happy weight at 84 pounds and he stands 28 inches tall. Not such the runt anymore. He is so quick and agile and we could not wait to try him out on the lure coursing field.
Alas, that day came and we found out one thing right away. Beau is not a lure courser. We took him when he was year old and even though he showed great interest in the lure, he ran the first 100 yards, stopped, turned around and saw his daddy and came jogging back happy as can be.
We have a great picture of him on the coursing field, though.
Beau got his CGC - Canine Good Citizen - when he was 10 months old, further solidifying his excellent temperament and personality. We have been thinking about training him as a therapy animal because of how well he does with people and how gentle he is. He accompanies us to most of the events even though he has no interest in participating.
